The 6th December 2015 Khanacross results
A slightly smaller
field than usual lined up for the final round of the Douglas Shire
Motor Sports Associations 2015 championship.
Greg Erwin driving his Nissan Micra was in hot form, leading from
the start and posting quickest time on all eleven runs. His winning
time of 681.59 seconds was nearly twenty seconds clear of second
place Steve Van der Brug.
Steve and his son Ben were both racing in Ben’s newly purchased
Hyundai Accent and the pair were running neck and neck for most of
the day, usually with less than a second splitting their times. The
margin between them at the end of the day, less than two tenths of a
second.
A five second penalty for hitting a witches hat in his Ford Laser
cost Dave Coulson dearly as he finished just one second behind the
Van der Brugs in fourth spot.
All eyes were on Shane North who came out of retirement to race the
Ford Falcon club car. After not competing all year his driving style
was a little erratic and he quickly gained the nick name, Captain
Risky.
He finished in fourteenth spot just ahead of junior driver Ashton
Davenport, who was driving on the khanacross track for the first
time.
