ROUND TWO
					2014 NQ KHANACROSS SERIES 28th & 29th JUNE

Four members from the Douglas Shire Motor Sport Association
competed in the second round of the NQ khanacross series
					last Sunday.

The event attracted drivers from Cairns, Mossman and as far
south as Mackay to the FNQ Motorsports Club’s new track,
					Rally Sport Park at Mareeba.

The series comprises four rounds, two at Tonka Park,
Proserpine, this round at Mareeba and the final round at
					Mossman’s Reef and Rainforest track.

Despite dry and dusty conditions and a tight tree lined
track, competition was fierce both for outright and class
					results.

Shane North came out of retirement “again” to drive his
daughters Ford Laser finishing third in the under 1600 class
and sixth outright to be the best placed Mossman driver. Not
bad for some who had not even planned to race the weekend.

Northy’s daughter Kara finished second in the junior class
and third in the Ladies class but couldn’t match her dad for
					outright speed.

Bob Errey found the track not to his liking and his larger
Ford Cortina struggled in the conditions finishing fourth in
the over 2 litre class and fourteenth outright.

Anthony Baldwin finished further down the timesheets as he
was using the weekend to run in a new five litre V8 that he
has fitted to his Holden Commodore in the off season.
