The 29th July 2012 Khanacross and
Junior Motorkhana results
The Reef and Rainforest Track finally dried out enough last
Sunday for the members of the Douglas Shire Motor Sports
Association to rev their engines and hit the track for the
third time this year.
Five juniors lined up in the junior club car to compete in
the Motorkhana. Kara North continued from where she left off
from the last event to win comfortably on a time of 501.88
seconds.
Less than half a second separated 2nd and 3rd with Cairns
driver Jaidyn Farmer 526.57 just edging out the fast
improving D’rel Smith on 526.95 seconds, while Erin Kenna
finished fourth on a time of 572.14.
Despite finishing last on 730.07 seconds Krystal Secker
continued to gain confidence behind the wheel with her times
improving throughout the day.
Ford Lasers dominated the khanacross results taking the top
four places, with John Kenna again winning on a time of 593
seconds. Dave Coulson 627 seconds finished second narrowly
beating off a late challenge from his son Matt on 628
seconds to beat him by just one second, Finishing a second
further back and first in the Ladies class was Krista O’Dell
on 629 seconds.
Matts third place outright was an impressive result
considering he is still a junior and that he beat many older
and more exprienced drivers. Second Junior home was Hayley
Kenna while Dal’n Smith rounded out the top three.
Following his win John has now increased his lead in the
club championship. He now sits on 59 points, 6 clear Krista
O’Dell on 53 while John Farmer sits 5 points further back on
48points.
The Association will be hosting the third round of the NQ
khanacross series on the 11th and 12th of August. Drivers
from Cairns, Townsville, and the Whitsundays will be
competing along side our local drivers.
