The 19th August 2012 Khanacross and
Junior Motorkhana results
Car racing returned to the Reef and Rainforest Track at
North Mossman last Sunday for a Khanacross and Junior
Motorkhana.
Outright winner was Cairns junior Matt Coulson who finished
on a time of 647 seconds. This was an outstanding effort
given that Matt is still only seventeen and in winning the
event beat home many older and more experienced drivers.
Matt who joined the club several years ago and also races
go-karts in Cairns has been progressively getting faster and
improving his driving skills to the point where he has now
won his first event.
Krista O’Dell put in another sterling effort to finish in
second place on 650 seconds four seconds ahead of her
partner, John Kenna who bought home his Ford Laser in third
on 654 seconds.
Matts father, Dave was fourth on 669 seconds ahead of the
Ford Cortina of club president Bob Errey on 689 seconds.
Only three kids lined up for the Junior Motorkhana with
Jaidyn Farmer and Kara North swapping fastest times through
out the day.
After nine runs it was Jaidyn who had etched out a narrow
three second lead to finish on a time of 356 seconds ahead
of Kara on 359 seconds. In third place was D’rel Smith on
375 seconds.
The clubs next event is on 9th September
