17th September 2022 Khanacross
Championship - Round 2 Inter Club Challenge
It's official. We are the
Champions.
Yes the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association have won the Inter
Club Challenge against the FNQ Motor Sport Club and regained the
converted trophy.
The Cairns club held a narrow 21 points to 19 lead at the end of
racing on Saturday but the local drivers were able to regroup on
Sunday and take it to the visitors winning 22 to 18.
Junior driver Cain Perry drove blistering fast all weekend, powering
his Subaru into 2nd outright, while his brother Seth was able to
improve on his Saturday result moving up from 5th to 4th outright.
After a slow start on Saturday, Heath Barry was able to find his
mojo and put in some fast runs on Sunday, finishing 5th outright.
Up and coming junior Mathew Boylett continues to impress with a
strong 7th outright and 1st Junior result.
Commiserations to the Cairns drivers who fought hard all weekend and
made it such a close result. With only tenths of seconds separating
drivers the result was still in the balance up until the last run of
the day.
Well done to Graeme Colls who won the event outright.
