12th July 2020 Khanacross Results
For the first event back post the COVID19 shut down sixteen drivers lined up for Round 7 of the 2020 Club Championship. Disappointingly no competitors entered the Junior Motorkhana.
Northy had kept the track mowed and graded during the three month lay off and as usual it presented well.
It was also the first time that the club could use its new shade structure, even if we were limited to a maximum of just nine spectators at one time. The structure was made possible by a $4000 grant from the Salsa Sorensen Association.
Competition was fast and furious throughout the day with four drivers managing to record fastest time over the eleven runs.
John Kenna looked to be in for a well deserved win but under intense pressure from Rick Ranscombe Kenna hit a course marker on his last run. The resultant five second penalty dropped him down to second spot less than a second behind Ranscombe.
Krista Kenna and Bruce Perry battled it out all day for third spot with Kenna just edging Perry out by less than half a second. The third place result giving Krista a win in the Ladies class.
Trent Colls rounded out the top five beating home his father, Graeme.
The Perry brothers continued their year long on track battle in the junior class with Cain the eventual victor ahead of brother Seth and third placed, Mackenzie Barry.
Shane Buchanan proved that you can sometimes have too much power, smashing another driveshaft in his Mitsubishi after only five runs.
The Clubs next event is planned for 9th August.
