2020 DSMA End of Year Results

Rick Ranscombe has been crowned the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association’s Club Champion for the second year in a row at the club's Chrissy party on Sunday. Rick finished on 155 points, fourteen points clear of second placed John Kenna while Krista Kenna rounded out the top three on 131 points

It comes just a day after he won the FNQ Motor Sport Club Championship in Cairns and in doing so becomes the first driver to hold the two tittles in the same year.

The Chrissy party was held at the track and began with some novelty motorkhana runs in the club car. This involved doing the runs not in reverse direction but in reverse gear and provided plenty of laughs for the spectators and other competitors.

True to form the fun day was won by Quick Rick with Graeme Colls and Bruce Perry not far behind.

After a lunch that would rival any feast served up on Master Chef, (fair dinkum, that was the best feed. Thanks to all those who contributed) the all important trophy presentation took place.

Seth Perry was crowned the Junior Champion holding off a strong challenge from Mackenzie Barry while Cain Perry was third.

Ranscombe also won the Front Wheel Drive class ahead of Mackenzie and Heath Barry. This was the first time that Macka has beaten her older brother.

Rob Bassett had a commanding win in the Rear Wheel Drive class finishing on 120 points, Greg Skyring was on 56 points and Melanie Johanson 40.

John Kenna beat his wife Krista in the All Wheel Drive class while Graeme Colls finished in third. Bruce Perry and son Seth were tied for fourth.

Only two points separated first and second in the Ladies class with Mackenzie Barry taking the Championship just ahead of Krista Kenna, while Kara North was third.

Young up and coming driver, Katherine Andrews won the Junior Motorkhana Championship.

Barry’s trophy haul was added to when she was awarded the Presidents Encouragement Award.

While happy with his win, Rick is already looking to the future. “There's some pretty quick all wheel drives coming through the ranks, next year should be interesting” he said
