The 14th October 2012 Khanacross and Junior Motorkhana results

After missing the last event, local driver John Kenna returned to the Reef and Rainforest Track in style last Sunday winning the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Associations October Khanacross.

It was not an easy win though as his Douglas Shire Gas Ford Laser was pushed all the way by Cairns driver Matt Coulson also driving a Laser. In the end just one and a half seconds separated the two.

The winning margin was one of the closest in the clubs fifteen-year history.

The battle for third and fourth was even tighter with Dave Coulson beating local driver Bruce Perry into third place by just quarter of a second.

John, Matt and Dave also filled the three top positions in the under 1600 cc class proving that you don’t necessarily need a large car and big horsepower to do well on the track.

Stacie Stephensen was the sole competitor in the 1600- 2L class while the over 2L class was won by Bob Errey ahead of Josh Sharpham and new member Michael Hodgson.

Josh Coulson narrowly won the junior class ahead of local drivers Dal’n Smith and Hayley Kenna.

Six twelve and thirteen year olds lined up in the Top End Paint and Panel junior club car. Kara North had her third win of the season beating Jaiden Farmer by three seconds while D’rel Smith finished in third place. They were followed home by Erin Kenna, Krystal Secker and first time competitor Alexander Russo.

The Association’s next event is on 18th of November.
