2023 Annual Championship Results and Presentation

PERRY TAKES THE WIN FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

The club rounded out yet another year of racing with a tasty lunch and a swim at the
Mossman pool for the annual Christmas party and trophy presentation on the 3rd of December.
The weather gods were only half on our side in 2023, with the club running 6 successful
events throughout the year, in addition to the final round of the North Queensland Khanacross
Championship in October.

With their pride on the line, the Perry twins, Cain and Seth battled ferociously each event to
see who would obtain top position. Ultimately, for the second year in a row, it was Cain who
took the outright championship out on 111 points, followed by his brother Seth on 105 points.
Finishing in 3 rd outright was junior, and quiet-achiever, Dylan Furche on 96 points. 2024 is
going to be quite the battle between these three. Dylan also took out Junior Khanacross
champion on 89 points, having an almost perfect year, finishing as 1 st junior for 5 out of the 6
events. Blake Nimmo and Jamie Rock rounded out the top 3 positions in the Junior class with
54 and 51 points respectively.

Rounding out the top 5 in the outright championship was Bruce Perry in 4 th , being beaten
(once again) by both his sons with 88 points and Daniel Andrews in 5 th on 87 points.

The Front Wheel Drive class was also hotly contested throughout the year, with both Bruce
and Daniel tying for 1 st place on 86 points. Blake Nimmo rounded out the top 3 with 53
points.

The Junior Motorkhana seen a total of 7 competitors throughout the year, with Keith Russell
taking out 1 st place on 76 points, followed by Thomas Gardener on 56 points and Zaeb Rix on
30 points. Keith shows promising skills and will be moving on up to the ‘big track’ in the
2024 year.

The Rear Wheel Drive championship was won by Bob Errey on 75 points, who, if not for a
missed event in June, would have had a perfect score. Greg Skyring was awarded 2 nd place on
65 points, and Rob Bassett on 57 points.

The Ladies championship was taken out by Kara North on 60 points, followed closely by
Paige Jenner on 58 points. Michelle Russell took out third ladies on 14 points.

Damien Darlington was presented with the President’s Encouragement award.

On behalf of all club members, a huge thank-you first goes out to the DSMSA committee
members for all their hard work: Bob Errey, Sonia Barry, Greg Skyring and Shane North; as
well as Dawn Whyte and Janet Goodall, and everyone else who helped out with working
bees, etc.
